Help and TipsAboutMemoTutor offers you the following learning scenario. When coming across a piece of information you want to memorize (say, a word in Latin, a history date, birthday of your friend, etc), add it into your items:
After some short initial time, MemoTutor will prepare this card for a review, which is basically testing how well you memorized it. When you click "To review" link on your left, you'll see the question:
Do your best to remember the answer, then click "Show answer":
Evaluate how correct was your answer, and how much effort it cost you to remember it, by clicking one of the 6 links below. MemoTutor will use your evaluation to schedule the next review for this particular card, also taking into account the history of previous reviews. The more often you pick the green link, the fewer times you'll come across this card in your repetitions. But if you fail time after time, MemoTutor will ask you this particular question again and again - until you remember it. After you click an evaluation link, MemoTutor will present you the question of the next card scheduled for a review (if any), and so the process continues. Include usage examplesIf you're learning a new word in a foreign language, add this word into the Question field, and in the Answer field, besides the translation or definition, provide a phrase that shows how this word can be used. Each time you review this word, read the phrase, no matter if you guessed the translation correctly. You don't need to memorize the phrase itself, just read it - it'll stick to you memory without extra effort. Well, no, not exactly. Reviewing a card that you still remember is nothing but distracting and tiring. MemoTutor takes care of that you only review a certain card at the moment when you are about to forget it. This is how it minimizes the amount of reviews while keeping up high efficiency! I have entered 100 cards at a time - why do I need to review them all at once? MemoTutor won't stop me!Ok, you recently added a lot of cards at a time, and, in a brief period, they all appeared in your repetition schedule. Do you need to review them all at once? Well, no, you don't have to. Just go through as many of those as you feel like. Once you feel you're distracted or tired - just stop, and then get back to it any time soon. So, what about that smart scheduling that forms the essence of MemoTutor and that we're so proud of? Isn't it supposed to interrupt you and say: "Hey, enough for today, take a rest!" The wonderful thing is that your authentic enthusiasm for learning can co-exist nicely with what MemoTutor does for you! Here's how: MemoTutor takes a role of a benevolent teacher that never forces or punishes you, but instead, given how much you want to learn, it allows you to take the most out of it! It's a win-win strategy. Learning is only fun when nothing is forcing you. And if you get hooked on MemoTutor as many people already did, this alone will let you learn so much more than with any other program! Besides, we are all too different for even the most clever of all algorithms to know the exact moment to tell you: "stop now!" Learning with MemoTutor stop whenever you feel like stopping, and come back again as soon as you can - be it in a half hour, tomorrow or in a week. The rule of thumb is: as long as you have pending repetitions (MemoTutor won't let you have more than necessary), and feel like learning - just do it. Back to top ⤴ |
